Stone Columns Stables at Rosemont is uniquely positioned to facilitate the breeding of your mare. We are just minutes to both Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital reproductive specialists and Hagyard Equine Clinic. We work closely with labs like Reliance Invitro, WellGrove, and Equine Medical Services for ICSI and embryo transfer.  We work symbiotically with repro vets from around the country to facilitate this process and offer our herd of recipient mares for those who need that service.

MARE MANAGEMENT 

Our mare management program encompasses all aspects of the breeding process from breeding soundness to insemination to foaling and on to weaning.  Mares live in large pastures with spacious sheds and in groups that will foal at the same time of year.  They establish relationships that are important throughout the gestational term as well as after foaling.  Our staff foster these relationships and have hands on the mares each and every day.  At 30 days prior to foaling, the mares are brought into the foaling barn to nest.  Each mare is groomed daily and their bags washed and handled to prep them for the nursing process.  This also allows our staff to bond with each mare that ensures trust during the foaling process.  Our foaling barn houses 15 spacious stalls, 13 are 16 x 16 and two used for the actual foaling are 18 x 18.  We have state of the art equipment for biosecurity as well as utilise custom plasma for each foal to ensure the best immune system support from day one.

We have paddocks that are staged in size for newborn to 2 - 4 week old foals while they adjust to turnout before joining the herd in the large paddocks after 30 days of age.

 

Our staff will help facilitate your breeding options, whether you use your own mare or a recipient mare. We have recipient mares available, please contact us to reserve in advance. We are also happy to board your mare and/or recipient mare for the duration of the pregnancy should you choose that route.

FOALING SERVICES

Foaling services are reserved for our long term care management clients.  We feel that a successful foaling starts back with a sound mare for breeding.  We foster that care from the very beginning ensuring the mares are setup for success for pregnancy and a healthy gestation.  Healthy and happy mares have an easier foaling and thus raise healthy babies who are well adjusted.

LONG TERM MANAGEMENT - WEANING​

Just as the mares live communally, we feel weanlings do better when raised together in groups on large fields.  As weaning time comes, and that can be at different times for different horses, we wean in groups which are typically the same groups that began with the mares.  Weanlings are monitored and handled daily and kept next to our weaning barn and brought in as needed.  We also offer sale prep for thoroughbreds and keuring prep for warmbloods.
